It is safe to say that up until today, I have spent the majority of 2021 writing my thesis project for my Master’s programme in Media and Communication Studies in the specialisation of Digital Media and Society at Uppsala University. The thesis focuses on the question of how Narasi Newsroom, a news outlet that uses social media to produce news, maintains journalistic legitimacy and how do Instagram users find credible and trustworthy news in light of the COVID-19 infodemic—a term coined by the WHO where they define:

I grew up with a childhood where I was no stranger to Pixar films, and I will be eternally grateful for that. The familiarity of enjoying Toy Story and A Bug’s Life are still nostalgic to me. My passion for arts can be dated back to years before I considered pursuing it in high school. Even when I spent most of my high school days with a class of art enthusiasts, I could only share my enthusiasm to a very selective few, ones who would want to roam in exhibitions and reflect our perspectives to the displayed works.

Indonesians are not the laziest walkers. Jakartans, are.

Quite recently, I came across an article from The Strait Times that directly strikes a headline, bluntly stating, “Stanford study reveals Indonesian laziest walkers in the world”.

Back in 2014, I spent half of the year observing the social media platform, Path, analysing users’ traits and behaviours to their use of the so-called ‘personal network’ app. Though initially it was for writing my Masters dissertation, the results influenced heavily on how I use social media and how I perceived the online environment to the reality of offline to online behaviour.
